Hey everyone, and welcome back to the blog! Today, I'm taking you on a whirlwind adventure through seven states in the heartland of America. Buckle up, because we're hitting the road for a jam-packed adventure!
Our journey began right here in Indiana. After a little stocking up on road trip snacks, we headed east to Edwardsville, Illinois, to visit some amazing family. After catching up and sharing stories, we ventured into the charming town for some sightseeing and a delicious supper at Mia Osteria.
Leaving Illinois, a touch of nostalgia filled the air as we cruised down a stretch of the legendary Route 66. Our most unique stop? Well, that would definitely be Uranus, Missouri. (Yes, you read that right!). Let's just say it provided some good laughs and some truly unforgettable photos.
Branson, Missouri, was our next stop, and we set up camp at the fantastic Branson KOA. This campground was a dream – well-organized, clean, and perfectly located for exploring all the Branson attractions.
Speaking of attractions, Branson did not disappoint! We strolled along the scenic Branson Riverwalk, indulged in a little retail therapy (because, souvenirs!), and treated ourselves to some incredible meals at Billy Gail's Restaurant and Guy Fieri's.
But the absolute highlight of Branson was seeing "The Haygoods" live! This show was pure magic – a non-stop display of talent and entertainment that left us thoroughly impressed. If you ever find yourself in Branson, this is a must-see!
Leaving Branson and the Ozark Mountains behind, we continued south through Arkansas and landed in Memphis, Tennessee. We based ourselves at the Jellystone Park Memphis (located just across the border in Mississippi – state lines can be tricky things!).
Memphis was a treat, we explored the iconic Bass Pro Pyramid, enjoyed breathtaking views (and delicious lunch) at "The Lookout at the Pyramid", and paid our respects at Graceland, the King's legendary home. Of course, no trip to Memphis is complete without some incredible seafood, and the Red Pier Cajun Seafood and Bar did not disappoint.
As our adventure neared its end, we cruised into Bowling Green, Kentucky. El Mazatlan's delicious Mexican fare fueled our final leg home, and a relaxing overnight stay at the Bowling Green KOA capped off a perfect trip.
Pulling back into our Indiana driveway after 1,336 miles, we were filled with a happy exhaustion and a lots of memories. This road trip was a fantastic adventure through diverse landscapes, charming towns, and unforgettable experiences. We can't wait to see where the next adventure takes us, but for now, we'll be reliving these incredible memories from the heartland!
